CX – Delayed Opening

Alright; it’s going to take some time before I open the server again. I have stopped coding on the source for a while now, and am now working on smaller projects to get better at C# so I can improve (and to also release tools that assist in making people’s lives easier
).
Update 2/28/2010: Yea, I’ve started up again. Got bored and I am going to get this thing off the ground. Will publish more news/posts along the way for every major or couple of major updates I get done.
All I can say now is the base of the server is pretty much set up – sockets, game client, packets, and other essential code is added in. Now I need to process the packets (from and to the client), and make a Database for the game server. Easier said than done. :/
Edit (3/1/2010): Yea, I am going to get this going; there is competition starting for CO1 servers & TQ is making official even worse. =x

CX Source Rewrite

In order to offer continued progress, we have decided to start over from scratch and rewrite the source to our server. With this rewrite, we are also dividing the auth & game server (so if ever, we may have one auth/login server w/ multiple game servers). Progress on the new source is coming along, with the auth server completely done & the game server being worked on. We will come back stronger and more stable than ever before!
We would also like to note that EVERY account made since February 6 (day our reg. closed) WILL be saved and will available on our new source/server when it is released!

edit (2.10.2010): Forgot to mention, all accounts made on the old CX server WILL still be available on the new CX server. We are hoping we can get characters saved too, but may ditch that if we implement a different DB setup for characters!
Integrated Forums

We are currently working on integrating the site even more, this time adding our WordPress & phpBB software into one. The outcome is to make it a more unified experience for wheeGames.com…we hope you enjoy it!
At this time, the forum looks a little weird. We are working on fixing that and thank you for your patience!
Also, we have disabled making accounts using WordPress (for now). You need to go to the forums and register. We will integrate the user registration on the blog page soon!
Update 2.6.2010 – WordPress & Forum Login/Registration now work on either system (and one account works for both)
Regarding Internet Explorer 6

If you are running IE6, you would have already noticed a message about upgrading, either on our home page or forums.
IE6 is an aging browser made in 2001, and while it was good in it’s day, fast forward 9 years, and it is a browser that needs to be let go due to it’s ways of not following standards and limitations it now has compared to what’s available to the web today.
For right now, site functionality will work in IE6, but we urge you to upgrade to a newer browser (either IE7 or IE8, or a 3rd party browser) as we do not guarantee the availability of support for IE6 in the future.

Revived Project: Conquer Xtreme

This is an ongoing project for the game Conquer Online™…with a special twist on it — it’s Conquer 1.0. Almost (if not all) current servers for Conquer (official and private) are 2.0. This switch will let players experience what the 1.0 client looked like, along with veteran and older players play on the client they once enjoyed again! Currently at this time, though, we are not a leveling server, but a Player vs. Player (PvP) server. We do, however, plan on having a leveling 1.0 server in the future (with fair rates, of course
).
We will be supplying an official client installer (if you don’t already have a CO1™ client (v4267-v4274 – circa June-August 2005)) and all appropriate files needed to connect to our server!
We also have a section on the wheeGames.com Forums, so be sure to register (please read the wG forum announcement regarding accounts) and post!

As a way to integrate what is going on at wheeGames.com, the main site will contain info on any projects currently going on AND we will use a central forum for all projects. We hope you enjoy the new wheeGames.com, as it’s more powerful and easier than ever before!
With WordPress we will be able to share news or other information more easily with our users on projects run by us, as the only place to go is here instead of each individual project website. This will make it ever more easier to be a part of multiple projects on wheeGames.com, as you now no longer have to go to each individual site for the latest information!
Also, for each project, it will have it’s own category, and any thing posted for it will be categorized under it, allowing you to use RSS and easily find all the news for a specific project!
Instead of having multiple forums, we have decided to use one central one. This approach will help us and you. Instead of going to multiple forums all on wheeGames.com, now you only need to go to one, as each project needing space on a forum will now use our centralized forums. Not only does this save space and time, this also offers advertising for other projects/services that you would otherwise never know about.
As we are new to this method, please be patient if you find an error or a problem…we will try our best to get it fixed! If you have any complaints, please leave a comment in this post.
